Florida Maine Coon Cats

ICOONS Cats is a small cattery located in Youngstown, Florida, 20 miles north of Panama City, Florida. ICOONS shows our cats in CFA (Cat Fancier Association) shows across the Southeast and in select national shows as well.

Our goal is to raise big, beautiful Maine Coons, stressing conformance to the Maine Coon breed standard. Our Maine Coons are raised as a part of our family. We know the importance that environment plays on the healthy socialization of cats. They are exposed daily (and even hourly!) to children, other pets and window views of our small horse farm in Northwest Florida. Great personalities in cats do not happen by chance, but instead are fostered by generous, loving attention.

We know that in order to have competitive cats you must show your cats and have the judges from the different associations assess how they meet the standard. We generally attend a show a month. Florida is a strong Maine Coon state and some of the nation’s best Maine Coon shows are in the sunshine state. Our show schedule for 2008 is in work and will be posted on our news page. We are anticipating attending shows in Tallahassee, Pensacola, Destin, Orlando, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida among others. We would love to meet you at any of the competitions to let you meet our beautiful cats in person!

The Maine Coon is known for its large size, easygoing temperament, and rugged appearance, also known as the "gentle giant" of the cat family.

Females typically weigh 9-12 pounds

Males weigh 13-18 pounds with some males exceeding 20 pounds

A Maine Coon's long hair does not need much grooming. A weekly combing is usually all that is required to keep the fur in top condition.

The Maine Coon is America's only native long-haired cat, well suited to withstand the harsh New England climate.
